Phu Yen people wrap 2,000 rice cakes for flood-affected victims

As of September 11 afternoon, 1,500 “it uoi” cakes, made from sticky rice flour, filled with pork and onions or green beans, and 500 ‘banh chung’ (square glutinous rice cakes) had been wrapped to delivered to flood-hit victims.

Women in Mo 2 hamlet and Quang Huy commune, Phu Yen town, wrap ‘it uoi’ cakes to give to people affected by floods in the northern provinces.

All of the wrapped and cooked cakes will be transported by the Drivers' Association 26 in Phu Yen and the association of Phu Tho fellow-countrymen in the district to reach the hands of people in flood-hit areas in Yen Bai and Phu Tho provinces on September 12 morning.

‘It uoi’ cakes are wrapped and cooked to be sent to people in flood-hit areas of Yen Bai and Phu Tho provinces.

In the coming days, organisations and individuals in Phu Yen district are expected to continue to wrap rice cakes to support those in Tuyen Quang and Cao Bang provinces. This deed shows solidarity and mutual help in difficult times with the spirit of "A piece when hungry is worth a whole pie when full".
