The provincial Border Guard Command held a ceremony on March 26 to commemorate the 95th anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) (March 26, 1931 – 2026). The event was attended by leaders of the provincial Border Guard Command, along with a large number of youth union members from affiliated units.

The Standing Committee of the Youth Union of the provincial People’s Committee on March 25 organised the “Youth Union Member Day” 2026. A total of 95 outstanding young participants from the Son La High School for the Gifted and the provincial Continuing Education Centre took part in the event.

The provincial Lung Hospital organised a conference in Mai Son commune on March 24 to mark World Tuberculosis Day (March 24); review the activities of the Tuberculosis Control Programme 2025 and implement the programme for 2026.

The provincial Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Police Division on March 23 held a conference to disseminate regulations on the installation of automatic fire alarm transmission systems to more than 300 representatives of establishments subject to fire safety and rescue management across four wards - To Hieu, Chieng Sinh, Chieng Coi and Chieng An.

A hailstorm lasting more than 30 minutes struck Tong Xet hamlet in Chieng An ward on the evening of March 22, causing significant damage to local residents’ agricultural production.

The provincial Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Police Division on March 23 held a conference to launch a campaign promoting communication, registration and commitments to install automatic fire alarm system, alongside the rollout of the “Bao chay 114” app across Area 4.

The Chieng On Border Guard Station under the provincial Border Guard Command, in coordination with charity groups, on March 22 held a groundbreaking ceremony for the “Loving School – Supporting Children's Journey to School” and “Lighting Up Border Roads” projects in Yen Son commune.

The People’s Committee of Chieng An ward launched a campaign themed “Flower Planting Today – Tourism Tomorrow” in Tong Xet hamlet on March 21. Attending the event were representatives from several agencies and units in To Hieu, Chieng An, and Chieng Coi wards, along with a large number of Chieng An

The Information, Education and Mass Mobilisation Board of the Son La provincial Party Committee, in coordination with Brigade 126 of the Vietnam People’s Navy, held awareness-raising sessions on maritime and island affairs and mobilising resources for the navy in 2026 at Thuan Chau High School and Thuan Chau commune on March 20.

The Son La Department of Agriculture and Environment on March 20 held a policy consultation workshop on supporting production under the national target programmes for the 2026–2030 period. Participants included experts, scientists, representatives from provincial departments, 16 communes and wards, and 20 agricultural enterprises and cooperatives in the province.

The Son La provincial Forest Protection Sub-department is holding a training workshop on the use of eCognition software for interpreting remote sensing imagery in forest management, protection and development from March 17-19.

Ranking second out of 75 communes and wards across Son La province, Chieng Coi ward has become a bright spot in administrative reform in 2025. Women’s Union chapters in Van Ho have rolled out a range of measures to enhance the role and standing of ethnic minority women in their families and in society. The initiatives aim to shift members’ perceptions, thinking and actions while supporting them in taking charge of their household finances and improving their livelihoods.

After the Lunar New Year holiday, farmers in Sop Cop commune have returned to their fields, resuming farm work with renewed optimism. Across the paddies, activity has picked up as residents repair irrigation systems, channel water into their plots and clear weeds, hoping for favourable weather and a bumper harvest this year.

Today, across local communities, it is easy to see vibrant flower-lined roads, well-maintained self-managed streets, houses labeled “Clean House – Beautiful Garden,” and “Recyclable Waste Collection” models. These visible changes come from the environmental protection movement of Women’s Union members, which has helped transform the rural landscape.

In recent years, the policy of sending local workers overseas for contract-based employment has received close attention and direction from the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee. Authorities at all levels and sectors have coordinated closely to implement overseas labor programmes effectively.
