Suoi To lies just 18 km from the centre of Phu Yen commune, but its rugged terrain, harsh weather conditions and limited resources have long acted as major barriers to development for this mountainous area. Determined to escape its status as a particularly disadvantaged commune, local Party committee, authorities and residents are making continuous efforts to transform the locality.

To implement Decision No. 49/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, the People’s Committee of Son La province has issued Plan No. 104/KH-UBND on carrying out the national programme on the conservation of endangered and rare wildlife species prioritised for protection through 2030, with a vision to 2050, in the province.

According to the ranking results on the National Public Service Portal, in March 2026, Son La province achieved a total score of 95.75 out of 100, ranking 7th among 34 provinces and cities in the index measuring service to citizens and businesses.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dang Ngoc Hau on April 7 held a working session with the provincial Department of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and relevant units on the plan to eliminate temporary and dilapidated housing in 2026.

The Son La provincial Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre, in coordination with Son La Power Company, organised a programme on April 2 to promote the efficient and economical use of energy to nearly 600 students and teachers of Lo Van Gia Primary School in Chieng An ward.

The provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations, in coordination with the provincial Department of Science and Technology, on March 31 organised a consultative workshop on solutions to create breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation in Son La. Attending the event were leaders of provincial departments and sectors, scientists, enterprises, and startup organisations in the province.

The provincial Department of Education and Training on March 31 closed the 12th provincial-level contest for outstanding secondary school teachers for the 2025–2026 academic year.
