Chieng An ward launches irrigation campaign for winter–spring crop production 2026

Chieng An ward on February 23 coordinated with Branch No. 5 of Son La Irrigation Works Management One Member Co., Ltd. to organise a ceremony calling on all residents to participate in irrigation work serving the 2026 winter–spring crop production.

Chieng An ward currently has eight reservoirs, three constructed dams, six pumping stations, one steel gabion weir, two canal systems with temporary weirs, and one flood drainage tunnel system, which are directly managed and operated by Branch No. 5 of Son La Irrigation Works Management One Member Co., Ltd. The total length of the canal system exceeds 34.5 km, with 15 grassroots irrigation organisations coordinating in management.

In 2026, the total irrigated and drained area is more than 5,100 hectares, including 304 hectares supplied with water for agricultural production and nearly 4,840 hectares for rural and urban drainage.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, officials, civil servants, armed forces, residents of 27 residential groups and hamlets in the ward, along with staff of Branch No. 5, simultaneously dredged and cleared in-field canals; repaired weirs, dams, and pumping stations; address blockages and landslides after storms and floods; and clean upstream water source areas.
