The total annual production of aquaculture and wild-caught fish exceeds 1,000 tonnes, with farmed fish accounting for over 750 tonnes. The commune has 34 cooperatives operating in the field of aquaculture and seafood processing. Three products have received the OCOP 3-star certification, including frozen fish fillets, Da River fish cakes, and fish sausages.
Quynh Nhai continues to train locals in fish care and disease prevention, and promotes the Da River fish brand and processed fish products, connecting and facilitating the sale of products for households and cooperatives.
Leveraging the advantages of being located within the Hoa Binh hydroelectric reservoir area, the people of Doan Ket commune have invested in 126 fish cages and 40 hectares of fish ponds, primarily for tilapia, grass carp, red tilapia, carp, catfish, and sturgeon. These are concentrated in the hamlets of Na Quen, Dong Giang, Ben Trai, and Nong Cut.
The annual production reaches more than 700 tonnes of marketable fish. Aquaculture has brought significant economic benefits, providing stable incomes and helping many households escape poverty, ensuring sustainable livelihoods, and contributing to the long-term economic development.
