Movements launched in Song Ma district to improve public health

The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, in collaboration with the People's Committee of Song Ma district, on March 23 organised a ceremony to launch the "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" campaign and the 2025 Olympic Run for Public Health.

The ceremony was attended by leaders from the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Song Ma district, and more than 2,000 athletes from both within and outside the district.

The 2025 Olympic Run for Public Health is to encourage all Party members, civil servants, public employees, and the general public to participate in physical exercise in order to improve health and enhance quality of life and human resources. The event aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and cultural environment, contributing to the consolidation of national solidarity. Meanwhile, the "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho” campaign for 2020-2030 period supports the improvement of learning, working, and production activities.

 Athletes run in response to the launch of the "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho" campaign and the 2025 Olympic Run for Public Health.

Over the past years, the sports movement in the province has achieved many notable accomplishments. In 2024, athletes took part in 46 national and international competitions, winning 148 medals, including 36 gold, 38 silver, and 74 bronze, surpassing the target by 118%.Notable achievements included one gold medal in Taekwondo at the Asian Championship and one bronze medal in athletics at the Southeast Asian Games. Especially, Quang Thi Thu Nghia won her fourth gold medal at the World Pencak Silat Championship. Song Ma district played a significant role in the province's overall results, with 20 athletes under training, and five gold, two silver, and six bronze medals at the national level.

Immediately after the launch ceremony, Song Ma district organised the 2025 expanded running race, with the participation of over 200 runners. Both male and female athletes competed in the 11 km race. The racecourse started from the 3/2 Square in Song Ma, passed through Song Ma town, and Huoi Mot and Chieng Khoong communes, and finished back at the 3/2 Square.

At the end of the competition, the organisers awarded two first, four second, and six third prizes to the winning athletes.
