Incense offering held in tribute to martyrs at Vi Xuyen National Martyrs' Cemetery

The Liaison Board of Vi Xuyen - Ha Tuyen Front Veterans in Son La province held a ceremony to offer flowers and incense in commemoration of heroic martyrs at the Vi Xuyen National Martyrs’ Cemetery in newly-formed Tuyen Quang province on July 19.

The Liaison Board of Vi Xuyen - Ha Tuyen Front Veterans in Son La province lays a wreath in tribute to martyrs at the Vi Xuyen National Martyrs’ Cemetery.

The cemetery is the final resting place of 1,854 martyrs and a collective grave of unnamed soldiers from provinces and cities across the country. Among them are nearly 100 Son La soldiers who bravely fought and sacrificed their lives during the northern border defence war from 1979 to 1989.

It was originally constructed in 1990 and has recently been upgraded and expanded to over 10 hectares.

The veterans offered incense and flowers to honour and express their deep gratitude for the immense sacrifices made by those who courageously fought and gave their youth to defend every inch of the sacred national border.

Following the offering ceremony, the veterans visited the Vi Xuyen battlefield and recalled the glorious tradition of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in the northern border defence war.
