Attending the ceremony were Nguyen Dinh Viet, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee; former provincial leaders; members of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board; leaders of provincial departments and agencies; local leaders; and representatives of partners, associations, businesses, and coffee growing households affiliated with the company across the province.
Established in 2018, Detech Coffee is the fourth-largest coffee producer in northern Vietnam. In recent years, the company has focused on promoting Son La coffee, advancing gender equality, and adopting international standards for sustainable agricultural development. Alongside expanding its production capacity, the company is investing in a deep processing plant in the heart of the raw material production area, laying the foundation for increasing the value of local coffee products.
The Detech Deep Coffee Processing Plant project has a total investment of 95 billion VND (3.67 million USD) and will cover a planned area of 3.43 hectares in Chieng Pha hamlet, Binh Thuan commune.
The plant is designed to process approximately 5,000 tonnes of green coffee beans annually, equivalent to a processing capacity of 25,000 tonnes of fresh coffee cherries. It will be equipped with modern production lines and an environmental treatment system that meets applicable standards.
The project aims to strengthen links between raw material production areas, businesses, and consumer markets. It is expected to help increase the added value of Son La Arabica coffee, improve production efficiency, promote the development of a sustainable coffee value chain, and create further cooperation opportunities for coffee growing households affiliated with the company.
Speaking at the ceremony, Viet emphasised that Son La enjoys significant advantages in climate and soil conditions for producing high-quality Arabica coffee. Over the years, coffee has become one of the province’s key crops, providing livelihoods, increasing household incomes, and steadily strengthening its reputation and brand in the market.
The provincial chairman called on the company to mobilise sufficient financial resources, personnel, equipment, and management capacity to ensure that the project is implemented safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. It must select advanced processing technologies, use resources efficiently, and conserve energy; and strictly comply with environmental protection requirements, particularly in the collection and treatment of wastewater and coffee by-products, to ensure that the project does not adversely affect local water resources or residents’ daily lives.
Provincial departments and agencies were requested to continue providing guidance and support to help the company complete project-related procedures within their respective areas of responsibility, while promptly addressing any difficulties in accordance with their authority and applicable regulations.
The Party Committee and authorities of Binh Thuan commune were also encouraged to facilitate connections between the company, cooperatives, and coffee growing households to ensure that the project is closely integrated with the development of local coffee growing areas, creates jobs, and improves residents’ living standards./.
