Son La province has so far this year planted 3,680 hectares of all kinds of vegetables, with an output of over 35,430 tonnes, serving the people's need for clean vegetables.

The Youth Union of Son La province, in collaboration with the provincial Border Guard Command and the Moc Chau district People’s Committee, held a ceremony on February 25 at Long Sap border gate border guard station, Long Sap commune to launch the "Youth Month, Border March" programme and respond to the 2024 tree planting festival.

The Education Promotion Association of Son La province in January presented 438 gifts and scholarships worth over 224 million VND (9,169 USD) to students in difficult circumstances and remote areas, with outstanding academic achievements, along with teachers and students who scored high results in competitions.

Son La city’s Traffic Safety Committee held a ceremony at Tay Bac (Northwest) Square on January 29 to launch the Traffic Safety Year 2024.

Son La province’s Federation of Labour, in collaboration with the provincial Post Office, units and businesses, organised booths offering free products and those with attractive discounts for labourers on January 28 in Mai Son district.

The Son La College on January 28 organised a contest to wrap banh chung (square sticky rice cake) and learn about Vietnamese traditional Tet, attracting the participation of seven teams of 70 Lao students learning at the college.

The provincial Military Command on January 20-21 coordinated with the provincial Youth Union, the People's Committee of Muong La district and a number of agencies, units and benefactors in organising a programme to bring a warm Lunar New Year (Tet) to residents in Chieng Lao commune, Muong La district.

The Federation of Labour of Son La city on January 20 held a gathering for its members and labourers who are in difficult circumstances on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

The Humanitarian Television Center and the Red Cross Society of Son La province, the Phu Yen district People's Committee, units and sponsors organised a Lunar New Year (Tet) programme on January 19 and 20 in Huy Tan commune, Phu Yen district.

As of December 2023, Son La province had 396 out of 597 schools meeting national standards, reaching 66.33%, 4.13% higher than the set target.

Last year, the provincial Centre for Disease Control received and distributed batches of vitamin A in service of the vitamin A supplementation campaign for children and postpartum women.

Quang Huy commune in Phu Yen district on January 16 held a ceremony to announce Chieng Thuong hamlet as meeting new-style and model new-style rural area standards in 2023. This is the second hamlet in the district recognised as a model new-style rural area.
