Implementing the “500-Day Campaign to Accelerate the Search for, Recovery and Identification of Martyrs’ Remains,” the provincial steering committee issued a plan to conduct a pilot programme involving sample collection and handover and the digitisation of information on martyrs’ remains at the To Hieu ward Martyrs’ Cemetery, with an aim of drawing lessons and standardising implementation methods across the province.
Accordingly, a total of 115 graves at the cemetery were identified for sample collection, with the implementation period lasting from June 11 to 15. As a result, samples were collected from all 115 graves, of which viable samples were successfully obtained from 85 graves, while no usable samples could be recovered from the remainders.
In his concluding remarks, Colonel Nghia called on localities and relevant agencies to further strengthen public information and awareness efforts, mobilise broad public participation, and promote the engagement of the entire political system. He emphasised the need to uphold the roles and responsibilities of local Party committees and authorities and competent agencies in implementing the campaign.
He also urged the provincial steering committee, local Party committees and authorities to enhance leadership and direction, and strengthen coordination among departments, sectors, agencies, units and mass organisations, with the goal of completing sample collection from all 472 unidentified martyrs’ graves at the remaining six martyrs’ cemeteries across the province before July 27.
