Son La province has three constituencies for the National Assembly election, 14 others for the provincial People’s Council election, and 1,580 polling teams.
Authorities set up 76 election committees at the provincial and commune levels, along with 468 election boards for National Assembly and provincial and communal People’s Council elections, and 1,580 polling teams.
Following consultation rounds, the province finalised a list of 15 candidates for the National Assembly, 94 for the provincial People’s Council, and 2,718 for commune-level People’s Councils. A total of 1,683 seats are to be filled, including nine for the National Assembly, 55 for the provincial People’s Council, and 1,619 for commune-level People’s Councils. The province has more than 915,000 voters eligible to exercise their civic rights.
All 1,580 polling stations across Son La province simultaneously opened the election before 7 a.m.
According to preliminary data from the provincial Election Committee, as of 9 a.m. on March 15, 32.61% of voters in the province had cast their ballots.
In many localities, voters arrived at polling stations very early. High turnout was reported in communes including Tan Yen, Song Khua, Muong Bang, Chieng Sung, Long Phieng and Pac Nga. For elderly voters, people with disabilities and those unable to travel due to illness, election teams used mobile ballot boxes to facilitate voting.
The election day atmosphere across Son La was upbeat, democratic and orderly, with voters showing a strong sense of responsibility in casting their ballots.
