Founded in 2016 with three initial classes, the centre has expanded over the past decade to include 16 one-on-one intervention rooms, two semi-boarding classes and a staff of 20 teachers and intervention specialists.
The centre provides support for around 100 children with special educational needs in Son La province each year. It currently operates five education and intervention programmes for children with speech delays, autism spectrum disorder and other special needs.
At the ceremony, delegates commended the centre’s efforts in supporting, providing interventions for, and educating children with disabilities and special needs, helping them gradually integrate into the community while also raising public awareness of inclusive education.
On the occasion, the Vietnam Federation for Disabilities awarded a certificate of merit to the centre for its outstanding achievements in caring for, educating and supporting people with disabilities.
The federation also presented the “For the Happiness of People with Disabilities in Vietnam” insignia to an individual in recognition of contributions to supporting people with disabilities.
