Polling stations across To Hieu ward were festooned with flags, flowers, banners and slogans welcoming the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term. The grassroots loudspeaker system continuously broadcast information on voters’ rights and obligations, while competent forces deployed plans to ensure security and order at polling areas.
At Polling Station No. 17 in To Hieu ward, Hoang Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Son La provincial Party Committee, and head of the provincial Delegation of National Assembly (NA) Deputies, attended the opening ceremony and cast his ballot, together with 1,065 voters from Residential Areas 4 and 7.
Before the opening ceremony, the sound of drums and gongs echoed as voters from different ethnic groups joined hands in a 'xoe' dance of solidarity, a traditional cultural practice of the Thai ethnic people during important celebrations.
The main and auxiliary ballot boxes were carefully inspected, while the voting layout was scientifically arranged to ensure a one-way process, creating convenience for voters.
At exactly 7am, the flag-saluting ceremony marked the solemn opening of the election. Voters listened to the announcement of polling station regulations and election procedures, and witnessed the sealing of the ballot boxes in accordance with regulations.
Together with other voters, Secretary Nghiem exercised his civic right and duty.
In this election, the ward has eght electoral constituencies and 27 polling stations with more than 30,000 voters casting their ballots to select three deputies to the National Assembly, five deputies to the provincial People’s Council, and 24 to the ward People’s Council.
All polling stations are arranged at cultural houses in hamlets and residential areas, which serve as central and convenient locations for voters to access.
After exercising his civic duty, the provincial Party leader directly inspected and directed the organisation of the election at constituencies in To Hieu, Chieng Coi, Chieng An and Chieng Sinh.
During the visits, he commended the sense of responsibility of election officials and the unity shown by voters. He emphasised that election teams must ensure the principles of democracy, transparency and compliance with the law, while creating the most favourable conditions for all voters to exercise their rights and fulfill their civic duties, contributing to the overall success of the election across the province.
