Residents in Gia Phu and Tuong Ha communes receive Tet gifts

Vi Duc Tho, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, on February 4 led a provincial delegation to visit and present Lunar New Year (Tet) gifts to residents in Gia Phu and Tuong Ha communes.

The delegation heard briefings from leaders of the two communes on their leadership and preparations for the Lunar New Year 2026, as well as reports on preparations for the elections of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 term.

The communes have formed working teams to assess Tet preparations in villages, conducted visits and presented gifts to policy beneficiaries, people with meritorious service to the revolution, poor and near-poor households, and social protection recipients. Measures are also in place to ensure public order and security, step up fire-prevention efforts, and monitor goods markets before, during and after the Lunar New Year.

For election preparations, local authorities have completed the public posting of voter lists at each polling area. They have also successfully held the second consultative conference, reaching agreement on a preliminary list of candidates for commune-level People’s Councils. Preparations are now underway for the third consultative round and voter meetings with candidates for commune-level People’s Council seats.

Tho urged the communes to continue delivering on key tasks for 2026, closely follow guidance to keep election preparations on schedule, and step up efforts to maintain public order and combat crime, particularly drug-related offenses. He also called for festive activities celebrating the Party and the Lunar New Year to be organised in a joyful, safe and cost-effective manner, while continuing to mobilise social resources to support disadvantaged residents during Tet.

On the occasion, Tho presented Tet gifts from the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to Gia Phu and Tuong Ha communes, and along with 40 gift packages to poor households and policy beneficiary families in the two communes ahead of the Lunar New Year.
