Son La enhances mobilisation and management of relief fund

Cha A Cua, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, and head of the provincial Relief Fund Mobilisation Committee, on March 23 chaired a meeting to review the fund’s activities in Q1/2026 and set key tasks for the remaining nine months.

The meeting was attended by Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, and members of the Mobilisation Committee.

During the first quarter, the committee coordinated with the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and its member organisations to promote awareness of the purpose and significance of mobilising, receiving, and using voluntary contributions to support communities affected by natural disasters, epidemics, and emergencies. The committee also reviewed and gave advice on the allocation of funds to address disaster-related damage across the province.

At the meeting to review the provincial Relief Fund’s activities in Q1/2026 and set key tasks for the remaining nine months. 

In Q1, funds carried over from 2025 totaled more than 67.6 billion VND (2.57 million USD). Of this, over 25.5 billion VND was allocated for disaster relief, including support for families who lost members, restoring production, repairing transportation and irrigation works, and strengthening disaster prevention infrastructure. The remaining 42.1 billion VND is proposed to be transferred to the provincial budget for management and use in accordance with legal regulations.

The meeting approved decisions on the reorganisation of the provincial Relief Fund Mobilisation Committee, operational regulations, mobilisation plans, and allocation procedures for emergency relief funds.

In his remarks, Cha A Cua said that committee members must continue to enhance their roles and responsibilities, coordinate closely with local authorities, and ensure that voluntary contributions are mobilised, allocated, and used effectively, transparently, and in a timely manner. He also called for improved training for relief personnel, stronger coordination between the Fatherland Front, government agencies, and member organisations, and strict adherence to financial management regulations to ensure public trust in the fund.
