Son La, Lang Son provinces exchange experience in border management

Dang Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and head of the provincial Steering Committee for Border Affairs, on May 21 led a delegation from Son La to a working session with Lang Son province to exchange experience in border management.

Receiving and working with the delegation were Dinh Huu Hoc, member of the provincial Party Committee's  Standing Board, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Lang Son provincial People’s Committee and head of the provincial Steering Committee for Border Affairs, along with leaders of departments, agencies, competent forces and relevant units of Lang Son province.

At the working session, Hoc provided an overview of border management and activities in border gates. Lang Son shares a 231.74 km border with China, featuring a system of 344 main border markers, 130 auxiliary markers and 10 border gates.

In the first six months, import-export activities through the border gates recorded positive results. Revenue from import-export taxes was estimated at more than 9.3 trillion VND (352.9 million USD), reaching 97% of the target assigned by the central government, with the province aiming to collect 18 trillion VND in 2026.

The two sides also shared experience in implementing the “Digital Border Gate” and “Smart Border Gate” models, applying digital transformation in the management of vehicles, goods and immigrationprocedures, as well as in supervision, operation and data connectivity among competent forces.

Speaking at the working session, Hau emphasized that the practical experience of Lang Son serves as an important reference for Son La to study and apply in border management, border gate administration and digital transformation in the coming period.

He also expressed hope that the two provinces would continue strengthening information exchange, sharing experience and enhancing close coordination to improve the effectiveness of border management and promote socio-economic development in border areas.
