Son La province strengthens management and use of “For the Poor” Fund

Cha A Cua, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, and head of the provincial “For the Poor” Fund Mobilisation Committee, on March 23 chaired a meeting to assess the fund’s activities in the first quarter of 2026 and set tasks for the remaining nine months.

During Q1, the committee proactively advised and implemented effective strategies for mobilising, managing, and using the fund. Fund-raising methods were gradually renovated, targeting a wider network and diversifying initiatives. The efforts engaged member organisations, government agencies, enterprises, armed forces, and residents both inside and outside the province, contributing significantly to support for people in need.

In the first quarter, the provincial “For the Poor” Fund mobilised over 26.3 billion VND (998,443 USD), with a carryover of more than 14.3 billion VND from 2025. Over 33.3 billion VND was allocated to assist poor and near-poor households, as well as families in difficult circumstances during the Lunar New Year 2026. The fund also supported construction to replace temporary or dilapidated homes, leaving a remaining balance of over 7.2 billion VND.

The meeting approved the regulations on mobilisation, management, and use of the fund; fund allocation processes; the 2026 plan for fundraising, usage, and social welfare programmes across Son La province; and the appointment and task assignments for committee members.

In his remarks, Cha A Cua praised the committee’s dedication and urged members to enhance coordination across sectors, innovate fundraising methods, leverage digital tools, expand outreach, and increase public oversight. These steps aim to improve efficiency, build public trust, and generate broad community support for the fund’s initiatives.
