According to a report from the provincial Department of Finance, the total state budget allocation for science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation in Son La province in 2026 exceeds 437 billion VND (16.6 million USD). Of this amount, more than 82.6 billion VND is for development investment and over 354.5 billion VND for recurrent expenditures. The funding comes from the budget estimates assigned at the beginning of the year, additional allocations for implementing Politburo Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, and funds carried forward from 2025 to 2026.
To date, more than 317 billion VND has been allocated across the province, accounting for 72.58% of the approved budget estimate, while nearly 120 billion VND remains unallocated. As of June 10, only more than 12.3 billion VND in recurrent expenditure funds had been disbursed, equivalent to 3.91% of the allocated budget. The primary reasons include many tasks still being in the process of bidding and contractor selection, as well as payment dossiers not yet reaching the contractual payment milestones.
Speaking at the meeting, Standing Vice Chairman Chien requested that assigned departments, agencies, and units continue reviewing the entire portfolio of projects and tasks and accelerate investment preparation activities.
He assigned the Department of Finance to focus on reviewing and promptly adjusting funding sources for science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation programmes.
The Department of Science and Technology was tasked with expediting project implementation and capital disbursement for both ongoing and newly approved projects, while advising the provincial People's Committee on drafting a provincial People's Council resolution to support innovation and the application of science and technology.
These efforts aim to ensure adequate resources for the development of science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation, thereby contributing to the effective achievement of socio-economic development goals and the establishment of digital government throughout the province, he said.
