Agricultural product booths attract crowds at Huoi Mot Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival

The organising board of the Huoi Mot commune Mot Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival 2026 on January 17 arranged a dedicated space to display typical and signature agricultural products of the locality, while also organising “zero-dong” booths run by local officials, civil servants, public employees and workers.

At the ethnic cultural space of Huoi Mot commune, local people and visitors can shop the locality’s traditional and distinctive agricultural products.

A total of nine booths from hamlets and three booths offering free products of the commune were set up in a simple style, decorated with bamboo, rattan and brocade, creating a close-knit atmosphere imbued with mountainous character. The booths showcased and introduced a wide range of local agricultural products, including glutinous rice, maize, forest honey, dried bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, and various clean vegetables. In addition, many processed and packaged products such as dried bananas, pickled bamboo shoots, traditional herbal yeast wine, and handicrafts were also displayed, attracting strong interest from visitors.

At the booths, local residents directly introduced production processes and shared experience in upland farming, from seed selection, soil and forest protection to developing sustainable livelihoods. Many visitors showed great interest in listening to simple stories about sowing and harvest seasons, as well as how the Mong, Thai, Kho Mu and Sinh Mun ethnic groups have remained closely connected to upland fields over generations.

The “zero-dong” booths attract large numbers of local people and visitors.

The organisation of agricultural product display booths helped create an experiential space for local people and visitors, while promoting the agricultural potential of the locality. Through this activity, residents are encouraged to improve product quality and gradually develop commodity-based production. Many products are connected to consumption channels, opening opportunities for cooperation and exchanges between hamlets, traders and visitors.

In addition to booths displaying typical agricultural products, Huoi Mot commune also arranged “zero-dong” booths offering free drinks and cakes for local people and visitors. The booths have a total value of more than 30 million VND (1,140 USD), contributed voluntarily by commune officials, civil servants, public employees and workers, with the aim of supporting residents from remote hamlets to attend the festival.
