Culinary contest showcase flavours of Quynh Nhai

As part of the Quynh Nhai Culture, Sports and Tourism Week 2026, a culinary contest titled “Flavours of Quynh Nhai – The Colours of Ethnic Cuisine” was held at the yard of the communal General Services Centre on the morning of February 27, attracting a large number of local residents and visitors.

The contest brought together 21 teams representing hamlet, sub-zones, agencies, and units within the commune, as well as neighbouring communes including Muong Gion, Muong Chien, and Muong Sai. Each team presented a distinctive feast tray featuring traditional dishes of local ethnic groups, such as five-coloured sticky rice, smoked meat, grilled stream fish, bitter bamboo shoots, and various specialties prepared from locally sourced agricultural products.

The dishes were meticulously arranged, harmoniously combining colours and offering rich flavours, creating a vibrant culinary space imbued with cultural identity. The skillful preparation and presentation not only demonstrated the teams’ talents but also reflected the refinement and uniqueness of each ethnic group’s cuisine.

In addition to cooking and displaying, the teams prepared presentations introducing the significance of their feast trays, the origins of the dishes, and the distinctive cultural features of their ethnic communities, while also promoting the people and land of Quynh Nhai along the Da River.
