Thuan Chau hands over houses under substandard housing elimination programme

Thuan Chau commune on February 4 held a ceremony to hand over houses built under the programme supporting the elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing arising in 2025, funded by the provincial “For the Poor Fund.” The handover ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dang Ngoc Hau.

Following a review and verification process, 67 poor households in Thuan Chau commune were identified as living in temporary or dilapidated houses arising after May 15, 2025, and were eligible for support in accordance with regulations. With close attention and direction from the province and the proactive involvement of local authorities, all 67 households began construction or renovation of their homes in mid-November 2025, and all projects were completed on schedule, meeting 100% of the set targets.

The total funding for the programme amounted to 3.96 billion VND (152,484 USD). Of this, the provincial “For the Poor Fund” provided 3.9 billion VND to support 66 households, including the construction of 64 new houses and the repair of two others; one household of a person with meritorious service received 60 million VND in support.

Upon completion, all houses met the “three-solid” standards (solid foundation, solid frame, and solid roof), using durable materials that ensure quality, longevity, and safety.

At the ceremony, provincial leaders and representatives of departments and sectors symbolically presented housing support funding to poor and near-poor households in Thuan Chau commune.

Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman Hau acknowledged and commended the proactive and decisive efforts of the commune in organising the elimination of temporary housing. He also called on the locality to continue thoroughly reviewing households facing housing difficulties and to proactively develop specific plans and roadmaps for 2026 to further implement the programme, thereby contributing to local socio-economic development. He expressed his hope that beneficiary families would cherish and maintain their new homes, and strive in production to stabilise and improve their household economies.

Within the framework of the programme, delegates also attended the ribbon-pulling ceremony and unveiling of a house sign for the family of Lo Thi Thoan in Mon hamlet, and visited and presented gifts to several families benefiting from the elimination of temporary and dilapidated housing on this occasion.

The newly handed-over houses not only provide families with safe and stable accommodation, but also serve as a great source of encouragement ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet) 2026, enabling residents to prepare for Tet in a warm and secure home with their families, while creating conditions for them to focus on production, gradually improve their livelihoods, and move forward in life.
