In recent years, under the leadership of the Parties and Governments of Vietnam and Laos, the Party committees, authorities, armed forces, and people of all ethnic groups in the two provinces have continuously upheld the tradition of special solidarity and friendship. They have strengthened comprehensive cooperation across socio-economic development, national defence, and security, thereby ensuring political stability and border security.

Departments, sectors, the authorities of border districts, communes, and villages, and armed forces of both sides have maintained regular information exchanges and have flexibly and promptly held meetings under established mechanisms. These include mutual visits and working sessions to share leadership and governance experience in socio-economic development, and to jointly address border-related issues in accordance with the Vietnam–Laos legal framework on border management and the minutes of the 14th border meeting.

Luang Prabang Vice Governor Bunluom – Manivong speaks at the meeting.

In the time ahead, the two sides agreed to effectively implement the legal documents on the Vietnam–Laos border, along with other relevant agreements and accords between the two countries and provinces, as well as the guidelines of the two Parties and the laws and policies of both States on border affairs.

They will actively and closely coordinate to monitor developments along the border, regularly exchange information, and promptly address any emerging issues to maintain security and order in the border area, toward building a borderline of peace, friendship, cooperation, and development.

The two provinces will also strengthen exchange activities in suitable formats between agencies and localities, helping to deepen the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos, and between Son La and Luang Prabang. These efforts will promote socio-economic development in the border region while preserving and enhancing the cultural traditions of ethnic communities on both sides.
