Bac Yen district grows 563 hectares of cardamom

Currently, Bac Yen district has nearly 563 hectares of cardamom grown under the canopy of natural forests, with an output of nearly 550 tonnes per year, bringing in an income of about 40 million VND (1,636 USD) per ha.

Bac Yen district has provided seedlings and sent technical staff to guide farmers how to intercrop medicinal plants under the forest canopy; care for and prevent pests for medicinal plants. It has opened training courses on harvesting and post-harvest preservation techniques to ensure quality; while boosting the promotion and sale of cardamom products.

The provice strives to support farmers in planting 400 hectares of new cardamom trees by 2030, contributing to increasing income, improving living standards and raising awareness of forest protection and development.
