Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Dinh Viet inspects the project construction site.

Following the Politburo’s Conclusion No. 81-TB/TW dated July 18, 2025, on the policy of investing in building schools for border communes, Phieng Khoai commune has surveyed the ground and selected the construction site at the current Phieng Khoai Secondary School. The new school will cover an area of 4.9 hectares and have a total investment of about 150 billion VND (5.7 million USD). It will be designed to meet the learning and living needs of about 1,000 students.

The Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee works with Phieng Khoai commune authorities.

The Phieng Khoai Primary–Secondary Boarding School will be the first among 13 inter-level boarding schools to be built in Son La province, with ground-breaking scheduled for August 19.

To date, the communal People’s Committee has arranged the venue for the ground-breaking ceremony, carried out an inventory and assessment of the current assets of the Phieng Khoai Secondary School to facilitate site clearance for the project, and developed a plan to relocate all teaching activities of the school for the 2025–2026 academic year to the Tam Thanh satellite school of the Kim Chung Primary School, as well as temporarily suspended the operation of the school’s boarding kitchen.

At the working session with the communal authorities, Viet requested the commune to coordinate closely with provincial departments and agencies to promptly and thoroughly prepare all necessary conditions to ensure the ground-breaking ceremony is held on August 19; allocate reserve land for the construction of additional items outside the project; and regularly report to the provincial People’s Committee on progress and any difficulties or obstacles during implementation.

He also emphasised the need to ensure well-organised teaching and learning activities for Phieng Khoai Secondary School students during the construction period, and to strengthen communication about the project’s investment policy to foster strong consensus among the public, parents, and students.
