Son La focuses on house construction, repairs for residents affected by natural disasters

Major General Nguyen Van Xuan, Deputy Commander of Military Region 2, and Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the Son La provincial People's Committee, on August 14 co-chaired a conference to implement the construction and repair of houses for local residents affected by natural disasters in 2025.

At the conference on house construction and repairs for people affected by natural disasters in Son La province in 2025.

During July and early August, Son La province experienced two waves of widespread heavy rain, damaging 2,602 houses. Among these, 52 houses were completely collapsed or swept away, 279 required emergency relocation, 90 were partially damaged, and the rest were at risk of landslides and flooding.

For households requiring construction, relocation, or repairs, the provincial Military Command has coordinated with local communes to implement support using funds allocated by the Central Relief Mobilization Committee. The support level is 100 million VND (3,800 USD) per completely damaged or relocated house, and 30 million VND per house for repairs.

As of now, the province has mobilized forces to participate in house construction, clean-up, and damage recovery efforts. Work has started on a total of 32 houses, with 19 already relocated.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong delivers a speech at the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman Cong urged communes and hamlets to facilitate land allocation so that affected households can rebuild or repair their homes. Son La province is mobilizing the participation of departments, sectors, and localities to prepare the necessary conditions to ensure timely construction and repairs.

Major General Nguyen Van Xuan, Deputy Commander of Military Region 2, addresses the conference.

Deputy Commander of Military Region 2 Xuan requested the provincial People's Committee to ensure electricity and water supply for the supported homes so they can be used immediately upon completion. He also called for prompt land clearance and prioritized support for households in difficult economic conditions.

The provincial Military Command will continue to work closely with relevant departments and localities to implement housing support, address challenges, and propose solutions to arising problems to ensure progress meets the set timeline, he stressed.
