Businesses in Son La bouncing back

Enterprises in Son La province have seen improvements in their production and business in the past year. Most of them have maintained production, contributed to economic growth, ensured workers' income, preserved business capital, fully paid to the State budget, and fulfill their social responsibility.

Members of the Quynh Nhai district business association has made noted performance in tourism. After one year of resumption, the Quynh Nhai Ecotourism Area, located on one side of Pa Uon bridge, has given a facelift, with new spacious homestays. Pham Van Doanh, head of the association, said many businesses have made bold investments to create new tourism products, adding that in 2023, Quynh Nhai has welcomed more than 230,000 visitors, up 7.5% year-on-year, with estimated revenue of 86 billion VND (3.52 million USD).

Other sectors like construction and commercial services have also made progress. Sand scarcity and the soaring prices of construction materials have gradually been solved, and a series of projects and urban areas have been rolled out, creating highlights for the locality, and helping raise revenue for enterprises and generate jobs for thousands of local labourers.

NTF Hoang Phat JSC in Chieng Coi ward, Son La city is an active member of the provincial Business Association. In 2023, it has maintained business operations, ensured jobs and income for its employees and actively participated in social welfare activities. The company is implementing the Elite Hill project (Pot Noi Urban Area), with up to 90% of the workload completed, and building the first six-hole golf course in Son La.

Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Chairman of the provincial Business Association, said the association has focused on some groups of tasks and solutions to support businesses, such as coordinating to create the business environment, promoting digital transformation and innovation, boosting green economy and circular economy in enterprises, and improving the efficiency of the implementation of policies and resources in support of enterprises to sharpen their competitiveness and integration capacity.

Businesspeople in Son La have played a role in raising the province’s export revenue to 186.8 million USD in 2023, a year-on-year increase of 6.9%. Of the value, agricultural products made up 177.6 million USD, up 8.8%. Son La has served 4.5 million tourists so far this year, a rise of 36.4%, and earned more than 4.7 trillion VND from the sector, up 58.2% year-on-year.

The locality’s State budget collection has reached 4.25 trillion VND, meeting the assigned estimate. Besides, the members of the provincial Business Association and enterprises in the province have actively participated in social welfare

Businesses in Son La have expressed their hope that the province will further improve the business environment in 2024, and build a strong contingent of entrepreneurs, towards “green citizens, green businesses, and green society”, and green, rapid, sustainable development in Son La./.
