In recent years, Son La province’s commercial infrastructure has seen strong growth, with a rapidly expanding network of supermarkets, shopping centres, convenience stores, and retail chains, both in number and scale, thus creating favourable conditions for the trade of goods, promoting production and consumption among local residents.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Minh Tien on October 28 chaired a meeting to review preparations for the construction of primary-secondary boarding schools for ethnic minorities in border communes.

Son La College on October 28 held a welcoming ceremony for a working delegation from nine Lao provinces who brought Lao students to enroll at the college.

The provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with the provincial Department of Education and Training and the People’s Committee of Song Ma commune, on October 28 organised a communication programme on family moral and lifestyle education for nearly 2,000 teachers and students of Song Ma High School.

Since 2021, Son La province has organised training for over 68,000 workers at various levels, with many programmes to enhance knowledge and skills in areas such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and big data. This has helped raise the proportion of workers with vocational training to 61.4% of the total workforce.

Since the beginning of this year, Son La province has welcomed more than 4.1 million tourist arrivals, earning a revenue of 4.86 trillion VND (184.7 million USD).

The Farmers’ Union of Quynh Nhai commune has 3,460 members across 41 branches. Implementing preferential credit policies, the union currently guarantees loans for 735 households through the transaction office of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, with a total outstanding balance of over 39 billion VND (1.48 million USD).

The judging panel for the 2025 outstanding rural industrial products of Son La province on October 27 convened at the provincial centre for investment, trade and tourism promotion to evaluate the shortlisted products.

The Vietnam Golden Autumn Fair 2025 is taking place at the Vietnam Exposition Centre in Hanoi from October 25 to November 4 under the theme “Connecting People, Creating Prosperity.” The event serves as a cultural bridge, offering provinces, including Son La, a platform to showcase their cultural identity and promote local agricultural products.

A delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment led by Deputy Minister Vo Van Hung on October 27 paid a working visit to Sơn La province to review the implementation of the “Population Stabilisation and Socio-Economic Development in Son La Hydropower Resettlement Areas” project (Project 666), the results of national target programmes for the 2021-2025 period, and orientation for 2026-2030, as well as emergency resettlement and stabilisation efforts in disaster-prone areas.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Son La province on October 27 opened a training workshop on agricultural and rural tourism development in association with the new-style rural area building programme 2025.

The school for training and fostering science and technology officials, in coordination with the department of grassroots and external information under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, on October 27 launched a training course on knowledge and professional skills for forces involved in providing news for foreign service in border areas.

Son La province’s Liaison Committee of Vietnamese Volunteer Soldiers and Military Experts in Laos on October 26 held a ceremony marking the 76th anniversary of its traditional day (October 30, 1949 – 2025).
