Farmers receive support in sustainable coffee farming 

The provincial Farmers’ Union in coordination with Tay Bac (Northwest) Agricultural Investment and Services Company Limited on October 31 handed over nearly 26 tonnes of organic fertilisers, 3 tonnes of lime powder, 14 litres of organic foliar fertilisers, and 300 bottles of pesticides to farmers in Hun hamlet, Chieng Co commune, Son La city.

The support aims to assist them in rolling out the model of organic intensive coffee cultivation in 2023.

The model has been launched in Hun hamlet with the participation of 20 households. Invested by the provincial Farmers’ Union, it covers 10 hectares and has funding of 420 million VND (17,095 USD), of which 294 million VND comes from the State coffer, and 126 million VND from participating residents. The project is expected to last for three years, starting in 2023.

The union will organise more training courses, transfer techniques for organic coffee cultivation, and provide guidance to farmers on the proper use of fertilisers and pesticides, contributing to raising the quality of local coffee./.
