Mai Son promotes foreign economic relations

Implementing economic diplomacy in the period of promoting industrialisation and modernisation, Mai Son district focuses on creating a favourable investment environment, promoting internal strength, and making the most of investment resources to boost socio-economic development.

In recent years, the district has proactively coordinated with departments, sectors and businesses to expand foreign economic activities through trade promotion; introduce the potential for economic development cooperation; expand export and import markets for goods; and step up foreign investment attraction. Attention has been paid to strengthening and consolidating cooperation; welcoming and working with foreign delegations; actively organising and attending seminars and conferences to promote trade and introduce potential and strengths of the district and Son La province at large;  and taking advantage of international cooperation and support. It has regularly updated and provided information on trade policies, market shares, consumers’ tastes, product quality standards, and regulations on technical barriers and tariffs for businesses and cooperatives; while supporting them in selling agricultural products on e-commerce platforms.

Currently, Mai Son district has six units having OCOP (one commune one product) products updated on the agricultural product trading floor (http://sannongsansonla.vn); and eight products put on the e-commerce platform Voso.vn. It has also reviewed and provided information on products eligible for promotion on the agricultural trade page of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (http://agritradepage.vn) and international e-commerce platforms.

Since 2023, the district has exported over 4,000 tonnes of fresh fruit, with a total value of nearly 2.4 million USD, including 2,260 tonnes of mango to China; 685 tonnes of dragon fruit to the Czech Republic and European countries; over 1,000 tonnes of passion fruit to some European countries; and 64 tonnes of maize seeds to Laos. In addition, over 61,640 tonnes of processed products have been exported for over 43.5 million USD, including 47,087 tonnes of cassava starch, 7,600 tonnes of sugar, 505 tonnes of fried longan to the Chinese market; and 6,450 tonnes of coffee to the EU, North America, the US, the Middle East and ASEAN countries; and 94,000 tonnes of clinker to China for over 3 million USD; and over 6,700 tonnes of cement to Laos.

Mai Son district is focusing on promoting dissemination, attracting investment; promoting its potential, strengths, history, culture and cultural values to localities in Vietnam, countries, organisations and friends at home and abroad in order to make the most of external resources, and bring into full play potential and advantages to serve its industrialisation and modernisation.
