Son La province has over 85,000 hectares of fruit and hawthorn trees, with an expected annual output of over 493,000 tonnes. By March 2024, the whole province had 211 growing area codes for export with an area of more than 3,000 hectares; 28 products granted protection certificates by the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam. Son La province has attracted a number of corporations and businesses to invest in processing tea, tapioca starch, coffee and sugar. The total value of exported goods in 2023 reached 186.8 million USD, of which 177.84 million USD was worth of agricultural products and food.

At the meeting, representatives from the Vietnam trade offices abroad shared useful information about the world market situation, products favoured in some major countries, key exports of domestic localities, requirements and standards for imported products set by foreign markets. They also assessed the potential of some typical agricultural products of Son La province, especially coffee and fruits.

The provincial Department of Industry and Trade and local businesses proposed the delegates support Son La province in updating market information and import-export policies in European and American markets; and evaluating the potential of the province's key products. They were asked to introduce reputable export businesses to the province, share cooperative models in selling agricultural products; and help Son La build and promote product brands.
