Phieng Khoai border highland market opens

The People's Committee of Phieng Khoai commune, Yen Chau district opened the 2024 border highlands market on the evening of August 31.

The 2024 border highlands market is taking place for from August 31 to September 2 in the centre of Phieng Khoai commune, featuring 20 booths displaying typical products such as ethnic costumes, souvenirs, traditional handicrafts; typical cuisine and agricultural products of six border highland communes: Phieng Khoai, Chieng Tuong, Muong Lum, Long Phieng, Yen Son and Chieng On, and some border hamlets of Xiengkho district, Laos’ Houaphanh province.

The market aims to introduce, promote and exchange goods of people on both sides of the Vietnam - Laos border; creating a close connection between businesses and residents, thus promoting production and business. The event is attracting domestic and foreign tourists to experience local culture, exchange and cooperate with local people, and find investment opportunities.

The opening ceremony marked an art programme themed "The fragrance and colour of the highlands", performed by professional and amateur actors and actresses from the Yen Chau district Media - Culture Center, the Chieng On Border Post and hamlets of Phieng Khoai commune. The singing and dancing performances praised the Party, beloved Uncle Ho, the innovative homeland of Son La, the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Laos, attracting a large number of tourists and people.
