Son La enterprises make every effort to develop

Overcoming difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the impact of the world economic situation, production and business activities of enterprises in Son La province have gradually recovered and developed, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development.

In the past nine months, the province’s export value reached over 128 billion USD, a year-on-year increase of 5.68%. Passenger transport revenue hit 355.5 billion VND (14.54 million USD), up over 25%; while goods transport earned over 2 trillion VND (81.8 million USD), a rise of 22.61%. Local budget revenue reached 2.39 trillion VND (97.77 million USD), equal to 56% of the government’s estimate and 50% of the estimate by the provincial People's Council.

These achievements were attributed to the role and contributions of the local business community.

Nam Thanh Construction Investment Joint Stock Company in Son La city has been undertaking many important works and projects such as the Nam La stream embankment project - phase 2 and the headquarters of the provincial People's Court. The company has completed 60% of its yearly plan and created jobs for 200 local workers, with an average salary of 11 million VND (450 USD) per person per month.

Director Nguyen Nam Thanh said the company has always received support and favorable conditions from local Party committees and authorities, and the provincial Business Association in connecting and assisting members, promptly solving difficulties. Businesses have proactively linked up and used each other's products and services, thereby finding new partners and customers. Expanding business fields, the company has invested in education and some commercial services.

Tourism activities have continued to recover positively, considered a bright spot in the economic picture of Son La province. The Moc Chau National Tourist Area has been honored as Asia's Leading Regional Natural Destination 2023 and Vietnam's Top Nature Destination 2023 by the World Travel Awards for the second year. Many new tourism products have been formed. In the first nine months, the total number of visitors to Son La reached 4.11 million, exceeding the 2023 plan by 5.4%. Revenue from tourism activities hit 4.31 trillion VND (176.3 million), 33.2% higher than the yearly target.

Nguyen Thi Trang Nhung, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment, said by September 30, the whole province had over 3,400 businesses, of which 2,369 registered to declare and pay taxes, contributing 50% of the total local budget revenue and creating jobs for more than 100,000 local workers. They have actively participated in social security activities.

The province has been creating a favourable environment for businesses to recover and develop sustainably, building a strong contingent of entrepreneurs, and improving quality, efficiency, competitiveness and sustainable development, towards the goal of promoting the green, fast, and sustainable development of Son La province.
