The opening ceremony of the fair, themed “Connecting Prosperity – Welcoming a Glorious Spring,” saw the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. Also attending were representatives of ministries, sectors, and provinces and cities nationwide. Representing Son La province was Dang Ngoc Hau, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

The fair, running from February 2 to 13, is a national-scale economic and cultural event, bringing together thousands of organisations and enterprises from Vietnam and abroad. It features around 3,000 booths showcasing a wide range of sectors, including agricultural products, processed foods, handicrafts, consumer goods, and supporting industrial products.

Beyond promoting Vietnamese products and brands, the fair serves as a vibrant space for ethnic cultural exchange, creating a joyful atmosphere for the public on the occasion of the Lunar New Year holiday.

With eight thematic zones, the fair is organised as a spring journey across Vietnam, where economic, cultural and creative values converge.

Addressing the ceremony, PM Chinh emphasised that the first Spring Fair 2026 is a “running start” expected to energise the domestic consumer market, a new “impetus” to inspire enthusiasm for labour, production and business, and a strategic “lever” to create breakthrough development momentum right from the beginning of 2026.

He called on the Ministry of Industry and Trade to ensure the most favourable conditions for the fair’s success, considering it a strategic “stepping stone” toward standardising the national fair model to international standards, and turning Vietnam’s international fair brand into a reputable marker on the regional and global trade map as early as 2026.

The Prime Minister urged ministries, sectors, agencies and localities to shift their mindset from “displaying goods” to “promoting values,” intensify the application of digital technologies in supply–demand connectivity, and promote regional specialties and OCOP products, thereby bringing Vietnamese brands closer to international friends. He also encouraged the organisation of diverse cultural, musical and experiential activities to create a joyful atmosphere for the people.
