Son La’s aquaculture production up 3.97%

Son La’s aquatic output was estimated at 9,437 tonnes in 2023, up 3.44% year-on-year, according to the provincial Statistics Office.

Residents in Ta Lai commune, Moc Chau district expand their fish farms with loans from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies (VBSP)’s branch in the district.

Of the total, aquatic catch reached 1,316 tonnes, a rise of 0.27%, including 949 tonnes of fish, 246 tonnes of shrimp, and 121 tonnes of others.

Aquaculture production hit 8,121 tonnes, up 3.97% from the same period in 2022, with fish making up 8,009 tonnes, shrimp 3 tonnes, and other products 110 tonnes.

The increase in aquaculture output was thanks to market stability, efforts by local farmers in renovating farms, a shift from raising some species of low-value fish to others with high economic value like sturgeon and carp, and stable consumption./.
