In 2010, red-flesh dragon fruit was planted in Thuan Chau district under a provincial-level scientific research project. In 2018, the district developed a chain for red-flesh dragon fruit products.  It has collaborated with Ngoc Hoang Cooperative to provide seeds for local people and instruct them on care techniques and product sale.

This is one of eight production chains for sustainable fruit tree development in Thuan Chau district.
The district now has 50 hectares of red-flesh dragon fruit, of which 44 hectares are developed under the chain, mainly in the communes of Chieng Pha, Phong Lai, Phong Lang, and Muong E. In 2024, dragon fruit output is estimated to reach over 500 tonnes, with an average selling price of 30,000 - 35,000 VND (1.18-1.37 USD) per kg.

The district strives to export 60 tonnes of red-fleshed dragon fruit through official channels to the UK, France, Russia, Italy, some Middle East countries and the EU.

Delegates cut the ribbon to launch the export of red-flesh dragon fruit products.
