Vegetable output reaches more than 55,000 tonnes

In the first quarter of 2024, Son La province planted nearly 5,120 hectares of all kinds of vegetables, an increase of nearly 5.4% over the same period last year, with output reaching 55,230 tonnes, up over 6.3% year-on-year.

Farmers in Chieng Xom commune, Son La city harvest vegetables.

In order to meet the market's demand for vegetables, local farmer households have tapped land and water resources to expand their growing area. In particular, they have gradually moved from small-scale vegetable growing to specialized farming, investing in building net houses and installing mist and drip irrigation systems.

Some localities have also encouraged and supported businesses, cooperatives and households to invest in intensive farming to increase crops, produce vegetables under VietGAP standards, and form linkages in product sale and processing, providing many safe and quality vegetables to the market.
