Doveco Son La Fruit and Vegetable Processing Centre asked to increase mango sale

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong on May 27 visited the Doveco Son La Fruit and Vegetable Processing Centre where he had a working session with its leaders on solutions to promote mango sale.

At the meeting, the centre’s leaders briefed the Vice Chairman on the situation of purchasing and consuming agricultural products in the province. Specifically, since the beginning of this season, the Dong Giao Food Export Joint Stock Company has bought over 8,600 tonnes of vegetables and fruits of all kinds, includinng about 2,000 tonnes of mango. At the same time, the company has issued a notice to purchase mango from farmers, at a price of 7,000 VND (0.28 USD) per kg at Doveco Son La and 8,000 VND per kg at Doveco Ninh Binh. A standard mango weighs at least 350g without any defect.

According to a plan, from now until the end of this year, Dong Giao will purchase over 60,000 tonnes of agricultural products of all kinds, including 10,000 tonnes of passion fruit, 1,000 tonnes of longan, and 20,000 tonnes of mango and others.

According to statistics, the province currently has over 19,600 hectares of mango, with an output of nearly 80,000 tonnes, mainly in the districts of Mai Son, Yen Chau, Muong La, Thuan Chau, and Song Ma. Since the beginning of the season, localities have sold nearly 10,000 tonnes of this fruit.

The centre pledged to maintain the purchasing price as announced, while proposing the province support and create favourable conditions for it to expand raw material areas and develop new crops, such as Kabocha squash, cauliflower, and cabbage.

Cong requested Doveco to develop a plan for purchasing and processing products, increase the capacity of purchasing and processing agricultural products, and ensure harmonious and sustainable benefits between businesses, cooperatives and farmers.
