The event brought together 378 official contestants and 91 alternates, all of whom are students from 42 high schools across the province.

They compete in two group events: general knowledge about national defence and security, and squad formation drills.
Additionally, there are competitions based on grade levels. The 10th-grade competition features squad formation drills without firearms, first aid techniques, and casualty evacuation. The 11th-grade competition includes the disassembly and reassembly of the AK assault rifle, as well as grenade-handling techniques (throwing grenades for distance and accuracy). The 12th-grade competition features an 800-metre armed run carrying an AK assault rifle, along with the application of basic combat movement techniques. Teams receive flags in recognition of their participation.
The four-day event aims to enhance the younger generation’s sense of responsibility, discipline, and military conduct in the era of reform. At the same time, it seeks to improve the quality and reaffirm the importance of national defence and security education as a key subject in the current high school curriculum.
