Martyrs' cemetery in northwestern military region renovated

National Steering Committee 515, in collaboration with Military Region 2 and Son La province, on December 17 organised the inauguration ceremony for the restoration and renovation of the martyrs' cemetery at Miliary Hospital 6 in the Northwestern Military Region.

At the inauguration ceremony.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Major General Doan Quang Hoa, Director of the Policy Department, standing member of National Steering Committee 515; Major General Nguyen Hong Thai, Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 2; Le Hong Minh, Vice Chairman of the Son La provincial People's Committee; leaders of Military Hospital 6; and representatives of Son La city. This event formed part of the activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defence Day (December 22).

Delegates cut the ribbon to inaugurate the restoration and renovation of the martyrs' cemetery at Military Hospital 6 in Northwestern Military Region.

The cemetery was built by the provincial Military Command as a separate one in 2003. It is located in a designated area within the Son La city people's cemetery, covering 426 sq.m and housing 97 graves of fallen soldiers. After 21 years, the cemetery had deteriorated. The National Steering Committee approved nearly 3 billion VND (117,878 USD) in funding for its restoration and renovation. Over the course of more than three months of construction, the provincial Military Command mobilised over 1,000 workdays from soldiers, working alongside contractors to complete the project on time, meeting required standards. The main components of the project include a memorial house, an altar, an incense burner, improvements to graves and flower gardens, and green spaces within the cemetery.
