The event was attended by Lo Minh Hung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee; Le Hong Long, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, and head of its Organisation Board; Ha Trung Chien, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee, and Secretary of the Son La city Party Committee; Nguyen Thanh Cong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee; along with former leaders of Muong La district; leaders of Muong La’s sister districts, departments, agencies, districts and Son La city; officers, soldiers, and local residents.
The participants reviewed the history of the district Party Organisation. Seventy-five years ago, on June 15, 1949, at Lung Dan Danh in Muong Chum commune, Tran Quyet, on behalf of the provincial Party Committee, announced the decision on the establishment of the Muong La district Party Organisation. Through the 75-year journey, the Party Organisation has led local residents to overcome challenges and hardships, contributing to the cause of national liberation, construction and defence.
Implementing Decision No. 105/CP dated March 13, 1979 of the Government Council on adjusting the boundaries of some communes in Son La province and Decision No. 133 of the Council of Ministers (now the Government) on moving Muong La district capital from Chieng An (now Chieng An ward, Son La city) to It Ong commune (now It Ong town), Muong La district completed the capital relocation on May 19, 1979.
Over the past 75 years of construction and development, the Party Organisation has held 21 congresses. Currently, it counts 57 grassroots Party units with 6,496 members. The Party Organisation and authorities of Muong La have gradually improved the Party's leadership capacity and upheld the strength of the entire political system and people from all walks of life, successfully fulfilling all comprehensive tasks across fields.
The district has performed well the task of resettlement to serve the construction of the Son La hydroelectric plant. In March 2022, it was removed from the list of poor districts, three years ahead of the target set in the resolution adopted at the district’s 21st Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term.
The district has maintained its good growth rate, with its economic structure shifting in a positive direction and people's living standards being improved. The locality has carried forward its tourism potential and made progress in this sphere, and optimised strengths in hydroelectric industry. At the same time, it has invested in infrastructure concertedly. The new-style rural are building programme has seen many innovations. Other fields like culture, health care, and education have also recorded positive changes. National defence and security have been guaranteed, and political security, social order and safety maintained.
In his remarks, Hung congratulated Muong La’s Party Organisation, authorities and people on their achievements over the past 75 years of construction and development. He asked them to uphold traditions and achievements, and intrinsic resources, and effectively implement solutions to successfully complete the tasks and targets set in the resolution of the district Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term.
The official also urged reviewing and putting forth planning schemes and plans to preserve and promote historical, cultural and scenic sites, as well as the values of the Lung Dan Danh relic site, which witnessed the birth of the district Party Organisation.
More efforts should be made in building a pure, strong Party and administration, and a contingent of qualified officials who can satisfy the requirements of the new situation, he said.
On this occasion, the district Party Committee presented the certificates of merit to 33 collectives and 19 individuals, and the district People’s Committee handed over the certificates of merit to five collectives and 20 individuals.
