The Central Emulation and Commendation Council, in collaboration with the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, organised a ceremony in the northern province of Hoa Binh on April 13 to launch a campaign aimed at eliminating temporary and ramshackle houses across the country by 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chien read a call for the entire political system and people from all walks of life to respond to the national campaign. Chien and Acting President Xuan received donations and gave thank-you letters to businesses and organisations supporting the movement nationwide. PM Chinh and the VFF leader handed over capital from the Central Fund for the Poor to the five northwestern provinces of Hoa Binh, Lai Chau, Son La, Lao Cai and Yen Bai, each 10 billion VND (399,400 USD).

The PM, the VFF President, the Acting President, and leaders of ministries and agencies delivered support to households in Da Bac district (50 million VND each).

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, PM Chinh appreciated the efforts of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Construction, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Committee for Ethnic Minority Affairs, localities, agencies and businesses in persuading organisations and people from all walks of life to support the construction of “great unity” houses and the elimination of substandard houses for poor households across the country.

The Prime Minister clearly stated that Resolution No. 42-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2023 of the 13th Party Central Committee on continuing to reform and improve the quality of social policies, meeting the requirements of national construction and defence with the goal of completely eliminating substandard houses for poor and near-poor households, and residents affected by natural disasters and climate change by 2030, the year marking the 100th founding anniversary of the Party.

The launch of the national movement to remove substandard houses is to concretise Resolution 42, with the aim of raising funds to build and repair 170,000 houses for poor and near-poor households nationwide from now until the end of 2025, he said.

The Prime Minister requested authorities at all levels and sectors to drastically implement the task of eliminating makeshift and dilapidated houses and effectively use the resources of the State, people, society and businesses to serve this goal.

“We hope that with the joint efforts, unanimity and engagement of the entire political system, the community, businesses and people, the movement will spread widely in society and be a success, for a prosperous and happy life of the people and the strong and prosperous development of the country,” the leader stressed.
