Provincial leaders offer incense in commemoration of hero To Hieu

Leaders of Son La province on March 5 offered incense in remembrance of revolutionist To Hieu on his 81st death anniversary (March 7, 1944 -2025) at the Son La Prison Martyrs’ Cemetery and the Son La Prison special national historical relic site.

To Hieu, who was born in 1912 in Xuan Cau village, Nghia Tru commune, Van Giang district, Hung Yen province. He was the youngest child in a poor Confucian family, part of the patriotic To clan, with many generations of scholars in Hung Yen province.

Following the patriotic tradition of his family, clan, and homeland, when he was only 14 years old, To Hieu participated in the school strike movements and a mourning event for the death of Phan Chau Trinh, so he was expelled from the colonial school. During 32 years of life, he devoted 18 years to revolutionary activities, with many years kept in prisons, including Son La Prison, where he died.

In a solemn atmosphere, the provincial leaders respectfully offered incense to remember and express deep gratitude for the great contributions of martyr To Hieu to the struggle for national independence and reunification.

The Party Committee, government, and people of Son La province pledge to uphold the "spirit of To Hieu" and the legacy of revolutionary predecessors. They are committed to staying united, dynamic, and creative to overcome difficulties and challenges, and successfully achieve the socio-economic, defence, and security development goals, building a richer and more beautiful Son La that deserves the great sacrifices of the martyrs.
