To implement the new-style rural development programme, Nam Et commune has strengthened communication work and encouraged residents to contribute workdays and financial resources to effectively carry out the tasks outlined in the plan. As a result, 100% of the projects requiring land clearance received voluntary support from locals. They donated materials, workdays, land, trees, and crops, especially for building roads and communal cultural houses.
The commune has mobilized over 218 billion VND (8.57 million USD) for new-style rural development, with 908 million VND donated by local residents. From 2012 to 2024, Nam Et has built seven communal roads of over 20 kilometers, three inter-hamlet roads nearly 3 kilometers long, six inner-hamlet roads totaling 13.8 kilometers, and six main field-access roads spanning more than 21 kilometers. All hamlets now have cultural houses; and both schools have achieved national standard level I.
The commune plants over 1,260 hectares of crops on the hills and more than 100 hectares of fruit trees on sloping land, raises over 7,800 livestock and nearly 28,000 poultry, and maintains almost 15 hectares of aquatic farming in the reservoir. The average income per capita reaches over 45 million VND per year, with the poverty and near-poverty rate at 11.1%. The commune has completed all 19 criteria and targets set for a new-style rural area.
Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong urged local Party committees and authorities to continue fostering solidarity, taking the lead in implementing tasks, and encouraging people to focus on economic development and improving incomes. He also encouraged the locals to preserve and promote the cultural values of their ethnic groups, contributing to Quynh Nhai’s efforts to fulfill the goal of becoming a new-style rural district by 2025.
