Currently, Son La province hosts two foreign direct investment (FDI) projects from Japanese investors, with a total registered investment of 7.3 million USD. These include the 5.5 million USD tea factory project of Satoen Vietnam Co., Ltd., and a 1.8 million USD agricultural project of the Takii Vietnam Co., Ltd.
In the past two years, Son La has welcomed several delegations from Japan’s Miyagi prefecture to discuss cooperation in sending Son La workers to work in Japan. Currently, there are 290 Son La workers in Japan.
At the working session, Cong urged the Japanese Embassy to enhance the dissemination of information to Japanese investors about investment, production, and business opportunities in Son La.
He emphasized the need to promote tourism and enhance connections for export of agricultural products to the Japanese market, as well as to provide information on market orientations, and export standards and conditions for Son La's products.
He also called for continued support to foster cooperation with Miyagi and other Japanese localities toward the establishment of a local-level partnership. He also proposed the Japanese side consider investing in the Van Ho Industrial Park’s infrastructure.
Agreeing with Son La’s proposals, Ambassador Ito Naoki said he will propose Japanese ministries and agencies share information with potential investors interested in exploring business opportunities in Son La. Regarding agricultural products, the diplomat asked the province to give more information about its specialties for promotion in the Japanese market.
