In 2025, efforts to ensure traffic safety and order in Son La province continued to be implemented resolutely and in a coordinated manner by authorities at all levels, achieving many positive results. The number of traffic accidents declined compared to the previous year, transport infrastructure was gradually upgraded, and public awareness of compliance with traffic laws showed clear improvement.
Implementing central and provincial directives and resolutions on traffic safety, the provincial Traffic Safety Committee advised the provincial People’s Committee to issue numerous guiding documents. At the same time, the organisation and effectiveness of traffic safety committees at all levels were strengthened and adjusted in line with the two-tier local government model.

Communication, dissemination, and education on traffic safety laws were intensified through diverse and practical approaches. Local and central media outlets operating in the province published more than 600 news articles and reports, while relevant forces conducted mobile and direct outreach activities for hundreds of thousands of road users. Many thematic communication programmes targeting students and young people were also implemented, contributing to the development of traffic awareness and culture.

In terms of transport infrastructure management, the province repaired and upgraded more than 31 kilometers of national highways and over 6 kilometers of provincial roads, while reviewing and proposing solutions for 81 locations with potential traffic safety risks. Management of transport operations, vehicles, and drivers continued to be tightened. During the year, authorities issued and renewed more than 52,000 driver’s licences and inspected nearly 50,000 motor vehicles, helping to improve the quality of vehicles participating in traffic.
Competent forces stepped up patrols, inspections, and strict handling of violations that directly cause traffic accidents. Across the province, more than 21,000 violations were penalised, with total fines exceeding 46.5 billion VND (1.77 million USD), focusing on violations related to alcohol consumption, speeding, overloading, and failure to wear helmets. In 2025, Son La recorded 141 traffic accidents, resulting in 110 fatalities and 107 injuries. The number of accidents and injuries decreased compared to 2024.

In his concluding remarks, Vice Chairman Tien urged departments, sectors, and localities to focus on effectively implementing central and provincial documents on traffic safety solutions. He emphasised strengthening communication and legal education for officials, civil servants, public employees, workers, youth union members, armed forces personnel, students, and the general public.
He also called for intensified implementation of measures to ensure smooth and safe traffic before, during, and after the Lunar New Year holiday and the Spring Festival 2026, striving to sustainably curb and reduce traffic accidents and ensure safety for all road users.
