A leader of Moc Chau Dairy Cattle Breeding JSC reports on the implementation of the milk purchase partnership contract.

At the meeting, the company’s leadership reported on the implementation of the milk purchase and sales contract. Currently, the company has contracts with 469 farming households. The milk procurement plan for 2025 is 75,500 tonnes. As of April 30, a total of 28,436 tonnes of fresh milk had been collected, reaching 37.6% of the plan (an increase of nearly 2,000 tonnes compared to the target).

However, in recent years, the expansion of farming scale and increase in dairy cattle numbers have led to a sharp rise in milk output. Meanwhile, the milk consumption market has faced many challenges. Therefore, the company plans to reduce its milk procurement volume by about 15% from May through the end of 2025. It has proposed solutions including setting milk purchasing plans for May and from June to year-end, and asking households to improve herd quality and cull low-yielding cows.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong speaks at the working session.

Speaking at the meeting, Cong requested that relevant departments continue reviewing the planning of livestock areas in the province to effectively implement the Law on Animal Husbandry. The focus should be on large-scale livestock farming with the application of science and technology.

He also urged restructuring the dairy herd, conducting a comprehensive review of the existing herd, recalculating the structure, scale, density, and quality of the dairy cows; researching methods to increase milk yield per cow; and supporting businesses in establishing disease-free livestock zones.

For Moc Chau Dairy Cattle Breeding JSC, he emphasised the need to publicise the milk purchasing plans for May and the remaining months, along with a detailed roadmap for reducing purchases from each farming household.

The company should expand into new markets for product sale, understand the concerns of farming households, coordinate with relevant units to restructure the herd toward standardisation and high-tech application, ensure environmental protection, and maintain disease safety standards, he said.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Cong inspects the dairy cow farming, and milk production and sale at a household in Thao Nguyen ward, Moc Chau township.
