The event was attended by leaders of relevant departments and agencies; and representatives of a number of enterprises in the province.
The province has zoned off 162 mineral mines for common construction materials, including 53 stone mines, 13 stone mines for artificial sand, 53 natural sand mines, 12 clay mines and 31 fill dirt quarries. Mineral management and exploitation activities are carried out by the Department of Natural Resources and Environment in coordination with the Department of Construction and relevant agencies through licensing and auctioning of exploitation rights. As of July 2024, the province had granted mining licences to 46 mineral mines; issued exploration permits and approved reserves for 65 mineral quarries.
Delegates proposed solutions to remove difficulties for enterprises producing and trading construction materials, focusing on issues related to licensing, planning management, development of mineral exploitation for common construction materials; strict management of planning landmarks and planned areas.
They stressed the need to strengthen the inspection and protection of unexploited minerals in the locality, and increase decentralization. The approval of investment plans and investors for projects producing common construction materials must closely follow the provincial master plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050. The plan for auctioning mineral exploitation rights must be based on specialized planning schemes.
After the workshop, the provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations will collect and submit solutions and recommendations to remove obstacles for sustainable development of the common construction materials industry in Son La province to the provincial People's Council and People's Committee.
