Ban Flower Festival promotes Van Ho district’s culinary quintessence

The culinary quintessence of ethnic groups in Van Ho district was highlighted at a cooking contest held in Chieng Khoa commune on March 17 as part of the Ban (Bauhinia) Flower Festival 2024 in the district.

The contest brought together 14 teams from 14 communes in Van Ho, each contributing a traditional food tray. The judgment was based on the uniqueness of dishes, which must be made of fresh and locally available ingredients. A tray must have both main and side dishes, with eye-catching displays, and ensured food hygiene and safety, and nutrition.

Notably, the food trays must reflect the culinary uniqueness of the participating ethnic groups, as well as the harmonious combination of ingredients, spices, and recipes.

The contest also featured the interpretation of themed food trays as each dish carried its own message.

Through the food trays, team members showed off their skillfulness, meticulousness, and finesse in cooking and arranging dishes.

The event attracted the attention of tourists and contributed to promoting local cuisine and tourism.
