Along with the unique traditional cultural values of the Mong ethnic group, Ta Xua is also blessed by nature with its “sea of clouds” and many famous landscapes such as the “dinosaur spine,” ancient tea hills in Ta Xua and Be hamlets, making it an attractive destination for tourists.
Closely linking cultural preservation with sustainable tourism development, creating livelihoods and improving people’s living standards, Ta Xua commune has regularly organised many outstanding cultural and artistic events in recent years such as the Mong Ethnic Culture Day, Ta Xua Cloud Festival, and horse race festival. These have become highlights, attracting thousands of visitors to experience Mong cultural space and enjoy local cuisine.
With the theme of “Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Mong ethnic group in the era of integration and sustainable development,” the Mong Ethnic Culture Day 2025 in Ta Xua featured a wide range of activities rich in cultural identity, including folk art performances, Khen panpipe performances, mass dances, a photo exhibition, and demonstrations of traditional embroidery. In addition, many booths introduced and displayed local specialty agricultural products.
Within the framework of the festival, traditional sports competitions and folk games were also organised. With 13 participating teams and nearly 100 athletes from various hamlets, contestants competed in activities such as ‘pao’ (cloth ball) throwing, tug of war, stick pushing, crossbow shooting, spinning top, and round sticky rice cake pounding.
The festival helped strengthen community solidarity among hamlets, and create a joyful and exciting atmosphere as people prepare to welcome the New Year and the traditional Tet of the Mong ethnic community.
