Muong La Hawthorn Flower Festival 2024 features cultural, art and sports activities

As part of the activities of the Muong La Hawthorn Flower Festival 2024, many cultural, art and sports activities took place in Nam Nghep and Muong Chien hamlets, Ngoc Chien commune, attracting crowds of residents and tourists.

Cultural, art and sports activities take place at the same time at the sports fields of Nam Nghep and Muong Chien hamlets. 200 athletes from 15 teams from hamlets in Ngoc Chien commune participated in many events, such as pounding banh day (round glutinous rice cake), creating patterns with beeswax on fabric, tu lu (a traditional version of spinning tops), throwing pa pao, and catching pigs while blindfolded. People and tourists also had a chance to experience the games. The activities took place in a vibrant and attractive atmosphere, receiving enthusiastic cheers from locals and tourists.

Along with sports activities, art teams of hamlets in Ngoc Chien commune and mass performing teams in some communes of Yen Bai province’s Mu Cang Chai and Tram Tau districts had cultural and artistic exchanges with local communities, with performances imbued with the identities of the Mong and Thai ethnic people.

The activities created a joyful and exciting atmosphere, encouraging everyone to practice sports to improve their health, flexibility, and agility. At the same time, they promoted the spirit of solidarity between ethnic groups inside and outside the district, and tapped the potential of unique cultural tourism to serve tourists, contributing to promoting local socio-economic development.
